The Anatomist Prestige Class
Anatomy may just be one of the facets of Science, but its applications and
widespread use have caused a whole new respect for the human body and the
mysteries it holds. Anatomists are oft-times misconstrued as necromancers,
though more than a few Anatomists have been driven over the brink of sanity on
their quests, becoming Mad Scientists. Anatomists generally perform work as
Doctors, using their skillful hands to cut and sew flesh; aiding in the healing
processes.

Wounding Strike
Anatomists are quite knowledgeable about many different body types, the
processes of the organs, and other anatomical details. Their knowledge of such
things aids in the placement of their blows. Any attack made by an Anatomist
can be made a Wounding Strike, causing the subject 1 point of Constitution
Damage. A Wounding Strike attack roll is made with a -2 Penalty and requires a
Standard Action, which must be declared prior to the attack roll. The Anatomist
is not otherwise limited by a number of times per day usage, though creatures
immune to Critical Hits are immune to the Wounding Strike class feature.
Triage
Anatomists are able to use their Healing Skills much more effectively than
those with skill in just Heal. Anatomists gain a bonus to their Heal Skill
equal to their Anatomist Class Level. Further, the Anatomist can attempt a
single Heal Skill Check with a DC equal to Current HP Damage – success means
that the Anatomist has decreased the current damage by Half. Each use of a Heal
Skill in this manner requires 1 Full-Round Action.
Critical Strike
The knowledge an Anatomist has achieved with respects to the body is
astounding, and something any Anatomist worth their medical training would use
in combat if needed. Anatomists can elect to make any attack a Critical Strike.
Such attacks are automatically Critical Potential, with the Attack Roll to hit
the creature also used to confirm the critical. Essentially, any hit with a
Critical Strike class feature is a Critical Hit. The Attack roll is made at a
-2 Penalty and requires a Standard Action, which must be declared prior to the
attack roll. The Anatomist is not otherwise limited by a number of times per
day usage, though creatures immune to Critical Hits are immune to the Critical
Strike class feature.
Surgery
Anatomists vie for the chance to work on the living with the full brunt of
their skills and talents. Surgery is perhaps the most favored of things an
Anatomist can master. It allows the Anatomist to seemingly bring back the dead.
Any creature that has died within 24 hours and given care by an Anatomist with
the Surgery Class Feature may attempt a Fortitude Save equal to 20 plus their
Hit Dice. The Anatomist provides a Circumstance Bonus to this save equal to a
Heal skill check. The Surgery itself is a long and complicated procedure, requiring
2 hours per 10HP and causing 1 permanent point of Constitution Loss from the
person being revived from death. The revived person has -9HP following the
Surgery and can only gain HP via Rest or magical healing until fully restored
to Maximum HP.
Death Strike
With the knowledge of bringing back the dead to life comes the knowledge of how
best to sever the power of life from the living. Anatomists can elect to make
any attack a Death Strike. Such attacks have the chance of causing either
paralysis or death in the target (Anatomist’s Choice). If the target of a Death
Strike fails a Fortitude save (DC 1/2 Damage Dealt), the target is either
paralyzed and helpless for 1d4+1 rounds, or reduced to 0HP and is Dying,
progressing to -1 if it takes any strenuous activities on its round, per normal
Dying. The Attack roll is made at a -2 Penalty and requires a Standard Action,
which must be declared prior to the attack roll. The Anatomist is not otherwise
limited by a number of times per day usage, though creatures immune to Critical
Hits are immune to the Death Strike class feature.
